Troye Sivan revealed that Ariana Grande was the first “genuine” celebrity friend he made in the business.
In a recent episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Sivan sat down alongside country music legend Reba McEntire and the pair answered rapid-fire questions.
“Troye, who was the first celebrity you became genuine friends with?” Cohen asked. Sivan contemplated for a few moments before saying, “Genuine friends like would see them often and stuff like that? Probably Ariana.”
“Wow, that’s a good one,” Cohen replied.
The “Rush” singer previously worked with Grande on his 2018 song, “Dance to This,” which was a smooth, relaxed beat that was in contrast to Grande’s other explosive collabs like “Love Me Harder” featuring The Weeknd and “Rain on Me” with Lady Gaga. Sivan was also featured in her music video for “Thank U, Next.”
Grande made TIME magazine’s list of “100 Most Influential People” in 2019 and Sivan wrote the essay honoring her work and calling her “a force” who is “breaking all the rules.”
“Through just about the craziest storms and whirlwinds I can imagine, Ariana Grande remains the most real person I’ve met,” Sivan wrote. “I’ve always thought the world is privy to actual, genuine emotion—be it heartbreak, empathy, generosity, resilience, strength—and I believe that’s exactly why the world keeps falling deeper in love with Ariana.”

Cohen asked Sivan other rapid-fire questions including when he knew he was gay, (when he was four), what his first concert was, (Black Eyed Peas), and finally what his first job was.
“I was in one of the X-Men movies,” Sivan replied. “I played young Wolverine… I’ve never really had like, a real job.”
Troye Sivan released his third studio album last week entitled Something to Give Each Other — a 10-track project that produced the hit single and viral music video, “Rush.” Sivan gave fans another iconic video for his song, “One of Your Girls.” The Australian singer transforms into full drag for the video and dances around former Disney Channel star Ross Lynch.
