Selena Gomez was the picture of elegance on Friday and showed that a little black dress is always the best choice for a night out.
The actor and Rare Beauty founder stepped out in SoHo in New York City on March 29 to support her friend and Only Murders In The Building co-star Steve Martin for the premiere of STEVE! (Martin) A Documentary in 2 Pieces. The documentary tells the prolific story of Martin’s career and Gomez was there to get the first look.
Of course, Gomez looked amazing. Her style for the evening may have been all black, but that doesn’t mean it had to be boring. The actor looked as chic as ever in a long black pencil skirt (or dress?) that featured long, off-the-shoulder sleeves. The top of the ensemble had an array of black bows that perfectly blended into the rest of the fabric — besides, bows are huge right now.
Gomez swept her hair back in a sleek bun with a side part that oozed Parisian style. She kept her neck bare and instead wore large studded earrings and glowy glam with orange-ish lipstick. Gomez paired the dress with black tights and black Louboutin’s.

Gomez shared a photo from the Steve Martin premiere on Instagram Stories on Friday and wrote about her admiration for the comedian.
“It pains me to know how many people may not know truly about Steve’s life,” Gomez wrote. “He’s truly an icon and tried and never gave up … my dear friend you are extraordinary.”
Selena Gomez has worked closely with Steve Martin on the beloved Hulu murder-mystery-comedy show since 2021, along with Martin Short. Gomez has grown close with both comedians, often posting funny behind-the-scenes footage from filming and posing together at events. Earlier this week, Gomez shared a photo from set of her with Martin and Short, thanking them “for truly being the most kind, gentle, warm and powerful influences in my life.”
“You have shown me a level of class, intellect and humor that doesn’t seem to be easy to find anymore. You guys are truly best friends to me forever,” she continued.
