When you think hiking clothes, you probably don’t think leather shorts — unless you’re Miley Cyrus, of course. The musician just proved that you don’t need to wear athletic shorts or leggings for your next Runyon Canyon climb, although you might be more comfortable if you do.
Miley Cyrus climbed to the top of the Hollywood Sign — insert lyrics from “Party in the USA” here — alongside Gucci creative director Sabato De Sarno and photographer Tyler Mitchell wearing a teeny tiny pair of burgundy leather Gucci hot pants, an inspired choice for a workout to be sure. However, given that Cyrus is an ambassador for Gucci, it does make sense that she’d choose the brand for a photo op, and this doesn’t seem like a casual daily hike thing; we’re getting “campaign photoshoot” vibes from this behind-the-scenes pic.
But back to the shorts! Cyrus styled them with a matching Gucci logo belt and a slim-fitting gray polo neck top, giant gold earrings, and slicked-back hair. That’s about all we can see from the cute, casual snapshot, but honestly, that’s all we need to see. I don’t think I’ll be ditching my workout clothes for outdoor adventuring in favor of leather hot pants, but if anyone can make a compelling case for such a swap, it’s Miley Cyrus.
Though we can’t really see Cyrus’s hair in the pic, the musician did recently ditch her half-and-half blonde and brunette hair color for a shade closer to her natural brunette. Cyrus has always given off throwback vibes, but lately, she’s been subtly leaning into the ‘70s aesthetic, hot pants included.
