Heated debate over Ronaldo’s position in the commemorative photo: “There is no World Cup but being in the middle next to Messi”

The photo just posted by FIFA has caused controversy regarding Ronaldo’s position.

On May 21, FIFA attracted attention when sharing on its personal page a photo celebrating the agency’s 120th anniversary. Here, images of famous players from different eras appeared, from Pele, Maradona to Zidane or Mbappe.

However, the most controversial name is superstar Ronaldo. Accordingly, many expressed dissatisfaction when CR7 appeared in a central position even though he had never won the World Cup gold trophy – the most important tournament organized by FIFA. Even up to this point, Ronaldo’s number of goals in the knockout round is still only zero. Meanwhile, the remaining names in the center of the photo have all won the World Cup.

Ronaldo’s position in the center of the photo is controversial

“He has never won the World Cup, but why is he standing in the center, next to Messi, Pele, and Maradona?” one person commented.

“This man has 0 goals and 0 assists in the World Cup knockout rounds even though he has participated 5 times. Yet they still put him in that position,” another person said.

“Let’s find the person infiltrating this photo (referring to Ronaldo),” another account said.

“They posted a picture of Ronaldo holding a title like the World Cup probably to deceive (FIFA The Best),” another account said.

Besides, FIFA’s photo also sparked debate about Messi and Ronaldo.

“Ronaldo must finally be placed below Messi (referring to Ronaldo’s picture below Messi’s picture),” a fan wrote.

“No matter how hard Ronaldo tries, he must make room for the legendary Messi,” another person said.

The World Cup is also the only missing title in Ronaldo’s trophy collection. There is information that Ronaldo will continue to play football for at least 2 more years to participate in the 2026 World Cup.
