A few days ago, public opinion once again caused a stir when Cristiano Ronaldo was removed from the best team in Europe in 2023. This is clearly an injustice to CR7 because the former MU star just achieved a record. 54 goals this year.

At the age of 38, Cristiano Ronaldo still surpasses a series of top strikers such as Erling Haaland (Man City), Kylian Mbappe (PSG) or Harry Kane (Bayern Munich).

Even more surprising is that rival Lionel Messi, despite having a poor performance in 2023, is still included in the squad selected by FIFA.

However, the star born in 1985 is not too sad as he was just named in another special category selected by IFFHS.

Specifically, Ronaldo is the owner of the ‘UEFA Best Goal Scorer 2023’ award from IFFHS – International Federation of Football History and Statistics. The title is awarded to the European player with the best scoring record in the past calendar year.

The Portuguese captain personally scored 54 goals in 2023 and surpassed all opponents to become the leader. Cristiano Ronaldo is also the star who won this title the most from IFFHS when reaching the milestone of 5 possessions (the most in European football).
