Ariana Grande’s fiery tweet (later deleted) on Mac Miller’s Grammy loss to Cardi B.

Ariana Grande took to Twitter to vent about the Grammys and her late ex Mac Miller on Sunday, then later deleted the tweets.

The Boca Raton, Florida native, 25, boycotted attending the ceremony amid a creative rift with producers, but was active on social media throughout the day – showing fans the Zac Posen gown she would have worn – before later deleting most of the stream-of-consciousness content she had posted.

Grande hit a boiling point when her late ex-boyfriend Mac Miller was not named as the winner in the Best Rap Album category for his album Swimming, losing out to Cardi B‘s Invasion of Privacy.

Speaking out: Ariana Grande, 25, took to Twitter to vent about the Grammys and her late ex Mac Miller on Sunday, then later deleted the tweets

The posthumous nomination was the only one for Miller, who died at the age of 26 in September as result of a fatal overdose from alcohol, cocaine and fentanyl.

Grande posted a series of tweets and subsequently deleted them, making clear that she was upset at the Academy officials for inviting Miller’s parents Karen Meyer and Mark McCormick to the occasion without a banner moment to celebrate the late Pittsburgh native.

‘They invited Mac’s parents out for basically no reason,’ Ariana wrote, also tweeting out phrases such as ‘literal bull****,’ ‘trash’ and ‘f***’ out of frustration.

She clarified that her hostility was not directed at Cardi B, saying in a (since-deleted) tweet that it had ‘nothing to do w her.

Tweet and delete: Grande posted a series of tweets and subsequently deleted them, making clear that she was upset at the Academy officials for inviting Mac Miller’s parents to the occasion without a banner moment to celebrate the late Pittsburgh native

Snub: Grande was angered when her late ex-boyfriend Mac Miller was not named as the winner in the Best Rap Album category, in what was his only nomination of the evening. He was acknowledged and remembered during the show’s In Memoriam segment later in the evening

Grande said of Cardi B: ‘good for her. i promise. i’m sorry. she’s not at all and that’s not what i mean and u know that.’

Miller was acknowledged and remembered during the show’s In Memoriam segment later in the evening.

Grande began dating the late star in August 2016, but they split early in 2018, months before he died from an accidental overdose in September.

Responding to a tweet questioning why the late rapper hadn’t received the award when his parents were there, she replied: ‘This. this is what i meant. karen was gonna have a green suit made.’

Miller’s mom attended the ceremony with Larry David’s daughter Cazzie, who she has bonded with in the wake of the rapper’s passing last fall.

Memories: Miller’s mom Karen Meyers attended the ceremony with Larry David’s daughter Cazzie, who she has bonded with in the wake of the rapper’s passing last fall. David shared the shot on her Instagram account with music professional Kelly Clancy

It’s a small world after all: Cazzie David was snapped with ex Pete Davidson, who dated Grande after her breakup with Miller; the two were pictured in 2017

A source explained to E! News of their friendship: ‘It’s still a relatively new friendship, and primarily limited to social media, but Cazzie and Karen think very highly of each other. Cazzie reached out to Karen with her condolences after Mac died and since then she and Karen have been exchanging messages.

‘Through their chats the two have discovered they have much more in common than just Mac, Ariana and Pete. Karen thinks Cazzie is an intelligent and sweet person.’

As for Cardi B, she didn’t respond to the comments but she took to her Instagram account to share a screenshot of a January US story that claimed Mac’s family wanted her to win the award if he didn’t.

She captioned the post: ‘WE WON A F***IN GRAMMY.’

Ariana liked the post and added three hearts in the comments.

Grande herself was a winner on the day, as she was awarded the Best Pop Vocal Album for Sweetener, prevailing against a talented field that included Taylor Swift (Reputation), Camila Cabello (Camila), Kelly Clarkson (Meaning Of Life), Shawn Mendes (Shawn Mendes) and P!nk (Beautiful Trauma). Grande was one-for-two on the night, as she did not take home the Pop Solo Performance honors she was nominated for, with Lady Gaga’s Joanne capturing the honors.

The Recording Academy collected the award on behalf of the Dangerous Woman beauty, who took to social media (prior to her Miller remarks) with a number of posts commemorating the historic win, expressing both joy and regret about the way the evening’s events were unfolding.

Clarification: Ariana said that she wasn’t upset over anything to do with Cardi B

Big win: Cardi B beamed as she held her Grammy, and acknowledged that she considered it a win for Mac Miller as well

Grande also tweeted about her absence at the show, which came amid a disagreement with producers who did not want her to sing 7 Rings as part of a set at the show, and wanted to dictate what her second song would be, Variety reported.

Grande and her reps were also upset that her image was aggressively used to advertise the award show, despite never having actually committed to the occasion, the outlet reported.

Following the announcement she had won, Grande wrote: ‘F*** … i know i’m not there tonight (trust, i tried and still truly wished it had worked out tbh) and i know i said i try not to put too much weight into these things …. but f*** ……. this is wild and beautiful. thank you so much.’

Ken Ehrlich, the producer of the annual ceremony, said that regardless of the circumstances, he was focused on making music’s biggest night a memorable one.

‘I’ve always believed at the end of the day, on Sunday night between 8 and 11:30, if we deliver, the rest goes away,’ he told Variety Saturday. ‘All I can do is put good stuff up there. I’m able to put all the other mishegas out of my mind.’
