Continuously setting revenue records

“Spider-Man: No Way Home” is released in late 2021. The work is a co-production between Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios.

Before its official release on December 17, the film premiered in Los Angeles, USA, on December 13 and had early screenings in many countries.

According to Deadline, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” has earned its first $50 million at the North American box office. This is the amount earned from early screenings on Thursday night and early Friday morning.

In international markets, on December 15 alone, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” earned 43.6 million USD from 15 markets.

In the UK, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” has sold $10.1 million in tickets, 1.5 times the $6.6 million that “No Time to Die” made on its first day of release.

In South Korea, the film set a record for the highest opening day revenue during the pandemic with $5.28 million. After two days, the film is estimated to have earned $8.58 million.

In Mexico, the Tom Holland-starring film earned $9 million on December 15, becoming the film with the highest opening revenue in history. In France, the film’s opening revenue was 2% higher than the previous achievement of Avengers: Endgame (2019), reaching $4.3 million.

In Italy, the film became the Sony Pictures release with the highest opening day revenue in history with 3.4 million USD.

With $50 million from the North American market and $43.6 million from the international box office, the global revenue of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” has reached $93.6 million right before the official release date. This is considered a miracle for a blockbuster when the COVID-19 pandemic is still complicated.

“Spider-Man: No Way Home” currently ranks behind Avengers: Endgame (2019) and Star Wars – Episode VII: The Force Awakens (2015) on the list of films with the highest Thursday night preview revenue at the North American box office.

In Hollywood history, only two December releases have ever grossed more than $200 million after three days of release in North America: Star Wars – Episode VII: The Force Awakens ($248 million in 2015) and Star Wars – Episode VIII: The Last Jedi ($227 million in 2017).

According to predictions, by December 19, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” will reach a huge revenue of up to 240 million USD to enter the top 3 movies released in December with the highest revenue after 3 days.

Why “Spider-Man: No Way Home” Won Big

The early success of the big-budget superhero film “Spider-Man: No Way Home” is a boon for theater chains including AMC Entertainment Holdings, Cinemark and Cineworld. Cinemark said the blockbuster “Spider-Man: No Way Home” delivered its biggest opening night of all time.

Shawn Robbins, chief analyst at BoxOfficePro.com, explains that the reason “Spider-Man: No Way Home” won big is because the film has the right content, released at the right time when the holiday season is starting to heat up. He predicts “Spider-Man: No Way Home” will end this weekend with a revenue of between $190 million and $240 million in theaters in North America.
