When he debuted for Real Madrid, striker Kylian Mbappe recreated almost all of the gestures and actions of his idol Cristiano Ronaldo from 15 years ago.
The French superstar officially debuted for Real Madrid on July 16 at Bernabeu Stadium in front of tens of thousands of fans.
Notably, the 25-year-old star recreated the same ceremony his idol Cristiano Ronaldo did when he joined the Bernabeu team in 2009.
Specifically, Mbappe also shouted “One, two, three, go Madrid”. After a speech lasting about 5 minutes, the striker born in 1998 also raised both arms high like his Portuguese idol.
Mbappe also did the same thing as Ronaldo by kissing the logo on Real Madrid’s shirt at least twice and wearing the same number 9 shirt, even though Ronaldo’s symbolic shirt number is 7 and Mbappe’s is 10.
“I did this to show my gratitude and respect to my idol Cristiano Ronaldo,” Mbappe said after the launch ceremony: “He is a senior who always gives me advice, that I must always work and immerse myself in football.”
Mbappe ‘exactly copied’ his idol Ronaldo when he debuted at Bernabeu on July 16.
About 10 days ago, Mbappe and the French team eliminated Ronaldo’s Portugal on penalties in the quarter-finals of EURO 2024. Mbappe felt sorry for his senior, but emphasized that what happened in Germany could not change the fact that Ronaldo is a legend of Real Madrid and world football.
The striker born in 1998 has repeatedly affirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo is his idol.
It is known that Mbappe signed a contract with Real Madrid until June 2029 and was given the number 9 shirt left by his compatriot Karim Benzema.
Mbappe will receive a salary of 16.28 million USD per year at Bernabeu, with a bonus of 162.8 million USD depending on performance and level of dedication.
The former PSG star is expected to tour the US with Real Madrid, facing AC Milan on July 31, Barcelona on August 3 and Chelsea on August 6.
Mbappe’s first official match in a Real Madrid shirt is the European Super Cup against Europa League champions Atalanta, held in Poland on August 14.
