What's so special about the 16-year-old Spanish star's shoes?

Lamine Yamal really shined with the Spanish team at Euro 2024. He paid homage to two other countries through special details on his shoes.

At just 17, Lamine Yamal has become a key player for La Roja and shone at the tournament. The Barcelona star scored a goal in the semi-final against France at Euro 2024, becoming Spain’s youngest ever goalscorer.

Ahead of the tournament, the winger was a key figure at the launch of the adidas F50 alongside his idol Lionel Messi, who is also currently wearing the boots for Argentina at the Copa America. However, fans were quick to notice that Yamal’s boots had a special detail (Photo: FC Barcelona).

According to TalkSPORT, Lamine Yamal was born in Catalonia (Spain) but his parents are from Morocco and Equatorial Guinea. Yamal had the opportunity to represent both countries. However, he chose to play for the country of his birth. To pay tribute to his homeland, he has the flags of both Morocco and Equatorial Guinea on his boots (Photo: TalkSPORT).

The youngster previously made headlines when he wore a custom-designed pair of Nike Mercurial Vapor 15 boots. In his Champions League debut, he wore a pair of boots that featured a motif from his life. The red of the original version was changed to a gold tone on a white background, creating a luxurious feel.
