What Ryan Day told Jimmy Fallon about LeBron James, Ohio State football’s golf cart incident

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football coach Ryan Day appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday, and he gave the nation a glimpse of his humorous side.

Fallon asked Day if he’d add LeBron James to OSU’s roster given the opportunity.

Day praised James’ support of the Buckeyes, but he’d accept him on the football team under one condition.

“He’d be right in line with the freshmen in the back of the room,” Day said. “He’d have to work his way up. He doesn’t get any special treatment.”

Day and Fallon touched on another viral topic centered on the Buckeyes.

After beating Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff National Championship, Day was involved in a golf cart crash alongside quarterback Will Howard and linebacker Cody Simon.

“It’s just amazing how you come right back down to earth like 20 minutes after (winning),” Day joked.

The golf cart clip surfaced shortly after Day also went viral for launching his headset behind the OSU bench following the victory.

“I’m lucky I didn’t hit somebody in the crowd,” Day said. “There’s some weight on that, too.”

Fallon touched on a couple subjects pertinent to Ohio State’s title run, including how Day rallied his team after a heartbreaking loss vs. Michigan to close the regular season.

“That’s the story of this team,” Day said. “I think there’s so many people that can learn from this team. We have a unbelievable group of guys that decided to come back and forgo going to the NFL.

“There was a point at the end of the year where there was nobody who thought we were going to do this. There’s a group of guys that did — decided they were going to.”

Fallon closed by asking Day to preview the upcoming Super Bowl matchup between the Chiefs and the Eagles.

He said his brain tells him to side with Kansas City.

However, as he sat in front of The Roots — the show’s house band originating from Philadelphia — he picked the Eagles.
