Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson continues with the filming of what promises to be the movie of his life. For a couple of months, we have known that the wrestler-turned-actor has undergone preparations for his new project with the production company A24 on a new film focused on MMA titled The Smashing Machine. And the People’s champ is giving his all for the movie.
In this film, The Rock aims to distance himself from his larger-than-life roles in action films or his comedic roles. His fans and movie buffs alike expect the film to showcase his best performance so far in the film.
The drama film focuses on the story of fighter and MMA champion Mark Kerr. Focusing on his struggles with drugs and the problems in his marriage as his career in the discipline advanced.
However, Johnson has just released a video on social media that revealed that he suffered an injury during production. Something that might lead to a delay in shooting and lead the Hollywood star to take a break. So would Johnson be unavailable for his return to SummerSlam? Well, we have an update on that front.
Dwayne Johnson’s injury and return timeline
Johnson recently worried his fans by sharing a shocking video through his official Instagram account. In it, the actor tells how, in the middle of the filming of The Smashing Machine, a forceful blow has unfortunately caused him an unpleasant injury. Although he did not detail under what circumstances of the shooting he got the injury, the Brahma Bull drew the attention of everyone by showing his elbow. Which stood out for having a kind of protuberance that was impossible to overlook.
He said, “As you guys know, I’m filming a movie called The Smashing Machine.” the star said, before pointing out the obvious correlation: “And anytime your film is called The Smashing Machine, well, you’re kind of going to get smashed up.” But fret not, dear fans, as in the comment on the video, a surgeon revealed that the injury would hamper his WWE appearance. As he said, the injury seems like an olecranon bursitis, and it’ll take a few weeks to go away, but it should resolve soon enough. Unless he re-aggravates it with direct trauma to the area. And all it needs are compressive wraps, ice, and anti-inflammatories.
As for The Rock, in the captions, he revealed that he is currently using functional medicine, holistic medicine, and modern medicine to heal himself. “Functional medicine, holistic medicine, modern medicine – I’m an advocate for it all when we get banged up. But don’t sleep on the power of the “healing Teremana hooch” 😂🥃 Sunshine & pain 🌞💪🏾
Smashing em up soulman 😉🕊️” So he definitely could come back in time SummerSlam to take his revenge on Cody Rhodes. He might also turn out to be the new Tribal Chief of the Bloodline if speculation proves right.
The People’s Champ has been working in collaboration with the production company A24, director and screenwriter Benny Safdie (known for working on Adam Sandler’s Uncut Gems film), and will co-star in the film with actress Emily Blunt, who will be playing his wife. The film is inspired by a true story that was documented in John Hyams’ 2002 film. What do you make of the injury update put forward by The Brahma Bull? Let us know in the comments section below.
