Victoria Justice Shuts Down Ariana Grande Feud Rumors: “How Is This Even a Story?”

Victoria Justice is making it clear that things are all good between her and her former “Victorious” costar Ariana Grande. In an April 18 interview with E! News at Coachella, Justice expressed some of her frustrations with rumors that the pair might be feuding. “I don’t even need to talk about this anymore,” she said, “but Ariana texted me, and we both were like, ‘This is so stupid.'”

“I think the biggest rumor is just like this whole narrative that was created of me being jealous of her and us not being friends,” Justice continued. “This is so dumb. Ten years later. How is this even a story? This is so stupid.” The actor went on to confirm that she and Grande have texted and assured each other that there are no hard feelings. She also said that their feud was an example of “the media and people wanting to pit people against each other.”

Justice and Grande both starred on “Victorious” from 2010 to 2013, but rumors about a feud began with a question in an infamous 2013 interview with Popstar. When asked who sings the most outside of the show, the group of “Victorious” stars agreed on Grande and costar Elizabeth Gillies — but Justice eventually interjected, “I think we ALL sing.”

The clip went viral again in 2017, with Justice’s quote quickly becoming a meme, but she addressed the discourse at the time. “I think we ALL have better things 2 do than dredging up 7 yr old non-existent drama. That said, Im kind of excited to finally be a meme 😂,” she tweeted.

Rumors about a feud continued when, also in 2013, Grande shared a post on her ask.fm account that claimed, “The only reason ‘Victorious’ ended is because 1 girl didn’t want to do it. She chose to do a solo tour instead of a cast tour.” Since Justice went on tour soon after the show ended, many fans believed Grande was referring to Justice. Also, soon after that post was made, Justice tweeted, “Some people would throw some1 that they consider a friend under the bus just 2 make themselves look good. #StopBeingAPhony #IfTheyOnlyKnew,” per Us Weekly.

That same year, Grande told Seventeen that she had “worked with someone who told me they’d never like me. But for some reason, I just felt like I needed her approval.” Many fans believed she was referring to Justice, though she later said she was talking about someone else. “My years filming ‘Victorious’ were some of the happiest of my life and that cast is family to me,” Grande said in a statement at the time. “The stories I shared with Seventeen were actually reflective of a different work experience. Please don’t send hate to anyone, it’s undeserved and I would never want that.”

Over the years, Justice has worked hard to put rumors about a feud to rest. In a 2015 interview on “The Meredith Vieira Show,” she echoed Grande’s statements about the Seventeen quotes. “There was an article where [Ariana] had said that she was bullied on set, and the magazine basically alluded to it being me,” she said. “Before [the article] came out, she texted me privately, and she was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I am so sorry, you know how the media twists words. I was not talking about you; I was talking about someone on Broadway that I had worked with.'”
