Veteran actress Gloria Romero has passed away. She was 91 years old.

The sad news was announced by Gloria’s daughter, Maritess Gutierrez, on Facebook.

“It is with great sadness [that I] announce the passing of my beloved mother, Gloria Galla Gutierrez, aka Gloria Romero, who peacefully joined our Creator earlier today, January 25, 2025,” she wrote.

Gloria’s wake will be held at Arlington Memorial Chapel in Quezon City.

“In this time of loss, our family deeply appreciates the support, prayers, sympathy, all the lovely messages, and heartfelt condolences that we’ve received. She will surely be missed dearly,” Gutierrez said.

A public viewing is scheduled for January 27 and 28, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Gloria, who won multiple acting awards during her more than 70-year career, was recognized for her outstanding performances in films “Magnifico,” “Dalagang Ilocana,” “Tarima,” “Tanging Yaman,” and ”Rainbow’s Sunset.”

She also appeared on various television shows.

In February 2024, Gloria, known as the “Queen of Philippine Cinema,” was given a star-studded tribute.

In April of the same year, she was named one of the Film Development Council of the Philippines’ Lifetime Achievement Honorees.

She earned the recognition “for being more than just a movie queen immortalized by landmark Filipino films cutting through decades of our popular culture and history.” — VBL, GMA Integrated News
