The strange object stopped cars in their tracks, killed birds, terrified children, and there were reports of hearing strange humming noises.
A town in Wiltshire, England has recorded a series of mysterious events such as mass UFO sightings, broken cars and strange noises, even alien abductions.
Since the 1960s, the Wiltshire town of Warminster has been haunted by a series of mysterious UFO sightings, often causing people’s cars to temporarily break down while they’re driving. Known as the Warminster Thing, the incident is one of the UK’s strangest mass paranormal sightings.
“This strange object stopped cars on the spot, killed birds, terrified children, and strange buzzing noises, lights, and crop circles” were reported. Although strange phenomena had been reported in the area before 1965, it was not until 1965 that reports of mysterious noises and sightings increased in frequency.

There were also reports of strange noises killing pigeons in 1964, which had also been claimed 12 months earlier. Most of the sightings occurred in the Cradle Hill and Clay Hill areas surrounding the town, alongside military land on the edge of Salisbury Plain.
Although reports of paranormal activity in Warminster date back to the 1950s, it was not until Christmas 1965 that a public meeting on the subject was held at the town hall. However, no explanation was ever offered for these strange occurrences.
Arthur Shuttlewood, a reporter for the Warminster Journal, has also published several books on the mysteries surrounding the numerous UFO sightings in and around the town from 1965 to 1980, and he is convinced that the phenomenon is of alien origin. He says he has heard 49 eyewitness accounts of hearing strange buzzing sounds that have killed birds and negatively affected animals and humans. Eight children have been frightened by the “thing” at various times, but their parents have asked that their children’s identities not be published.
Notably, in a 1965 press conference, Dr. Cleary-Baker summarized the mysterious story of UFOs. He also claimed that UFOs were alien spacecraft, controlled by a higher level of intelligence than ours.
The meeting ended after 10 hours of discussion but still did not produce the expected results. Today, the town remains a mecca for paranormal investigators and UFO hunters. In 2015, a 50th anniversary commemoration was held for the event, but now nearly 60 years later, the incident remains a mystery.
