A Title IX complaint has been filed against another member of the Florida basketball coaching staff, fewer than six months after a complaint was filed against head coach Todd Golden.
According to an ESPN.com report, Taurean Green, an assistant player development coach with the Florida Gators, faces allegations of sexual assault for allegedly forcing himself on a UF athletic department employee.
Per the report from ESPN.com, Green arranged a meeting with the alleged victim in an athletic facility in March of 2024, where he kissed her and tried to put his hand down her pants. The alleged victim, according to the report, pulled his hand away and said no, and he tried again, at which point she left.
The alleged victim, per the ESPN report, did not report the incident at the time due to Green’s status and the fear of retaliation, but felt compelled to do after Title IX investigators working on the Golden case asked to interview her last fall about Golden’s interactions with female athletes. According to the ESPN report, the alleged victim first reported her allegations in mid-December to Florida deputy athletics director Amy Meyers Hass.
Green, the starting point guard on UF’s back-to-back national championship teams, returned to Florida in 2022 to join UF’s staff after a successful professional basketball career overseas.
Green did not respond to immediate requests from The Sun seeking comment. Florida officials did not confirm or deny the report.
“The law prohibits us from commenting on the existence or status of investigations,” Florida spokesperson Steve Orlando said in a statement to The Sun on Thursday night. “The University of Florida takes these matters seriously and conducts a thorough and deliberate process that ensures due process for everyone.”
The complaint comes as Golden is still the subject of an ongoing Title IX investigation related to a different complaint, which includes allegations of sexual exploitation, sexual harassment and stalking. Specifically, the complaint alleges the 39-year-old Golden made unwanted advances on social media, requested sexual favors and sent pictures of his genitalia while traveling in his duties
In a statement on the social media platform X on Nov. 9, Golden confirmed that he had actively participated in and respected the confidentiality of an ongoing school inquiry. Golden also said in the statement he’s engaged an attorney, Ken Turkel, to advise him on his ability to bring defamation claims while the inquiry is ongoing.
Golden is 55-31 in three seasons at UF and has coached the Gators to a 15-2 record and No. 4 ranking this season. Florida next plays Saturday against Texas (4 p.m., ESPN2).
