On the set of “The Fate of the Furious”, a meeting was held to resolve the conflict between Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel. The Rock described it as “not peaceful at all”.
Digital Spy reported that in a new interview with Vanity Fair, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson recalled the on-set conflict between him and Vin Diesel. He said he would return to the Fast & Furious series on the condition that he and Vin Diesel do not have scenes together.
“I wanted to ignore the controversy. I think it’s the best thing I have to do, for myself and everyone else,” Johnson shared. However, the conflict between the two actors continues to escalate. Universal Pictures had to organize a reconciliation meeting for the two.
“It’s hard to say that meeting went peacefully. But thanks to it, the two sides saw each other clearly. He and I had a candid conversation inside my break room on set. The conclusion is clear as day that we are as different as water and fire. Both agreed to leave the story open there,” Dwayne Johnson said.
He concluded that he and Vin Diesel are two men with different views and ideas about filmmaking. “I see the role of every member of the crew as equal to mine. I consider the studios to be equal partners.”
The above meeting was held after Dwayne Johnson posted a long article on Instagram, criticizing Vin Diesel’s behavior on set without directly mentioning his co-star’s name.
The muscle star wrote: “When watching the movie in April, if sometimes you see me not acting but looking like I’m angry, then you’re right.” He also admitted that it wasn’t his smoothest working day, but still chose to share it with the audience.
The Fate of the Furious is the last film to feature both The Rock and Vin Diesel. Johnson’s character Luke Hobbs first appeared in the Fast & Furious universe in Fast Five. He quickly became an important face of the speed family.
After conflicts on set, The Rock returned in his own film Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019) with Jason Statham. Dwayne Johnson was absent from the 9th film of the Fast & Furious franchise released in June. In August, sources from Dwayne Johnson confirmed that the actor will not return in the conclusion of the two Fast films. & Furious.
