Avril Lavigne fans everywhere are screaming, crying, and throwing up over the release and announcement of her new song “Love It When You Hate Me,” which is featured on her new album, Love Sux, which will be released on February 25th. This came shortly after the November 10th release of her single “Bite Me” featuring Travis Barker, drummer for the pop-punk icons Blink-182. Avril Lavigne is the poster girl for early 2000’s pop-rock, so it is no surprise that those who grew up listening to her (myself included) are anxious for the release of this album, and any future work she puts out.

Lavigne took a short break from music before signing with Travis Barker’s label DTA Records in November, and I am definitely excited to see that Avril will be putting out some new music. She will also be going on tour next month in Canada, Europe, and the U.K. Love Sux will be her seventh studio album succeeding her sixth studio album, Head Above Water, which was released back in 2019. She collaborated with Willow Smith and Travis Barker in October for the track “GROW,” which was featured on Willow’s fourth studio album, Lately I Feel Everything. Since the release of “Bite Me,” Avril has performed the song on The Late Late Show with James Corden, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Ellen Degeneres Show, and ABC’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.
The new album will consist of 12 songs and will feature artists like blackbear, Machine Gun Kelly, and Mark Hoppus of Blink-182. The songs included in Love Sux are “Cannonball”, “Bois Lie (feat. Machine Gun Kelly),” ”Bite Me,” “Love It When You Hate Me (feat. blackbear),” “Love Sux,” “Kiss Me Like The World Is Ending,” “Avalanche,” Déjà Vu,” “F.U.,” “All I Wanted (feat. Mark Hoppus),” “Dare To Love Me,” and “Break Of A Heartache.”

The pop-rock princess has also been featured in NYLON Magazine and Harper’s Bazaar as a cover girl and was recently interviewed for several podcasts and radio shows. In one iHeartRadio podcast, she revealed that she will be turning her iconic song “Sk8er Boi” into a film. “Recently, because of my 20th anniversary, a lot of people have been asking me to play [“Sk8er Boi”] on some TV shows, and I feel like it keeps getting brought back up. And I’m actually turning this song into a film. So, like, take it to the next level,” she says.

The upcoming album is already sounding like a hit with only two new songs released. There is no doubt in my mind that the rest of the album will rock just as hard. Most of us already know what Ms. Lavigne is capable of, so all of us die-hard fans are in for a nostalgic treat that will have us blasting out our stereos just like we did back in ‘06.
