On Friday, June 14, the famous pop singer gave her second performance of the Eras Tour in the city.
Taylor Swift is absolutely adoring Liverpool! The 34-year-old pop sensation performed her second Eras Tour concert at Anfield Stadium in Liverpool, England, on Friday, June 14th, and a clip shared on social media showcased her admiration for the “amazing” audience.
Addressing the crowd, Swift expressed, “I just have to say, personally, this is one of the most authentic, kind-hearted, and wonderful audiences I’ve ever had the pleasure of performing for. I’ve connected with so many new friends here tonight, it’s unbelievable.”
“I feel incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to perform for amazing fans like you who are eager to attend my show. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support. Liverpool, I adore you. Thank you,” she expressed with gratitude.
During Swift’s second concert in Liverpool, she surprised fans by performing her acoustic version of Rihanna and Calvin Harris’ 2016 hit song “This Is What You Came For.” This marked the first time during her Eras Tour that she covered a song not originally released under her own name. In a video shared online, Swift can be seen speaking to the audience before performing the track, expressing her excitement to try something unexpected during her acoustic set. She asked the crowd, “Let’s see how we did tonight” with a playful smile.
Ever since its debut in October 2016, Swift has only graced the stage with this track on two occasions. The first was a captivating piano rendition at the Formula 1 U.S. Grand Prix in Austin, followed by a performance at a Super Saturday Night event in Houston back in February 2017.
Fast forward to Thursday, June 13, and it was a significant date for Swift as she celebrated her 100th Eras Tour performance. During the concert, she made a heartfelt announcement to her fans that the tour would be wrapping up by the end of the year.
Many of you may be wondering, “How will you mark the 100th show?” Swift mentioned in a fan-captured video shared online. “To me, celebrating the 100th show is also about facing the reality that this tour will come to an end in December, something I’m finally admitting to myself.”
After her performance, the singer stayed up late to tune into a live stream of her beau Travis Kelce getting his Super Bowl LVIII ring at the Kansas City Chiefs ring ceremony. Along with Patrick Mahomes and their teammates, they all celebrated the special moment. Swift’s last show of the Liverpool Eras Tour will be on Saturday, June 15, before making her way to Cardiff in Wales.
