A US congressman stressed that Americans deserve to know more about a series of “strange objects” in recent days. There have been questions about UFOs, aliens.
On February 12, the US military reported that they shot down an unknown object near Lake Huron. The incident raised many security questions.
Don’t know what the “foreign object” is
In a recent announcement, the US Department of Defense said they expect to recover the remains of the object. This is the fourth flying object shot down in the US in less than 10 days.
Earlier on February 4, the US shot down a Chinese balloon over Montana. On February 10, the White House announced the shooting down of a second object over Alaska.
A day later, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said a US fighter jet shot down a third “unidentified object” over Canada’s Yukon Lake. And most recently on February 12, the US shot down a flying object near Lake Huron in Michigan.
The Pentagon admitted it had no idea what the three closest objects were. They had been tracking them for almost a day, and only knew they did not resemble Chinese balloons. According to AFP, an official described the recently shot object as octagonal in shape.
Northern Command Commander Glen VanHerck said he sent aircraft to inspect the object and found no threat.
The incident created great confusion and curiosity among the media as well as the people. When asked if there was a possibility of aliens or extraterrestrial objects appearing, Mr. VanHerck replied that he would leave it to the intelligence community to find out.
“We call them objects, not balloons, for a reason,” Mr. VanHerck added.
The recent UFO sightings come as the Pentagon has launched a new effort in recent years to investigate cases of military sightings of unidentified flying objects (UFOs), Reuters reported.
UFOs have now been officially renamed by the government as UAP (unidentified aerial phenomena).
There are currently hundreds of reports being investigated. The US government is investigating anomalous objects, from space, the sky, to underwater.
However, the Pentagon says there is no evidence that extraterrestrial life has visited Earth.
Foreign body information pressure
Rep. Jack Bergman (Michigan) confirmed that he had contacted the Department of Defense about the object in Lake Huron. On Twitter, he wrote: “The American people deserve more answers than we are getting.”
Members of Congress complained that they were not informed about the recent incident. “I’m waiting for first-hand information. The security of our country is my priority,” said Rep. Matt Rosendale (Montana).
On ABC’s “This Week,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said U.S. officials now believe both objects were balloons, smaller than the Chinese balloon.
But US officials have yet to release many details about the objects shot down on February 10 and 11.
Ohio Congressman Mike Turner also admitted to not knowing anything about the two latest objects. Members of Congress have also not received any official information from the Biden administration.
The reason, according to Mr. Turner, appears to lie in the fact that the Biden administration really has no information: “From the press conference we saw, it seems like they’re acting without real information about what they’re doing.”
A series of strange objects are putting pressure on the Biden administration. Previously, some opinions criticized the US for waiting many days to shoot down the Chinese balloon.
