MONEY FRUSTRATIONS AS CAPITAL ONE OUTAGE IS IMPACTING CUSTOMERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY, MAKING IT VERY HARD FOR PEOPLE TO ACCESS THOSE DEPOSIT PAYMENTS, EVEN THOSE TRANSFERS. AND WE’RE FEELING IT HERE LOCALLY. WDSU’S SHAY O’CONNOR IS LIVE FROM CAPITAL ONE BANK WITH MORE ON THE IMPACTS THAT ARE BEING FELT HERE IN LOUISIANA. SHAY. GOOD AFTERNOON TO YOU, RANDI. YEAH. CAPITAL ONE OFFICIALS SAY THAT THERE WAS A TECHNICAL GLITCH INVOLVING A THIRD PARTY VENDOR. MEANWHILE, WE’VE BEEN RECEIVING CALLS FROM CUSTOMERS ACROSS THE CITY. ALSO, JEFFERSON PARISH, OCHSNER EMPLOYEES, AS YOU JUST MENTIONED. APPARENTLY, THEIR ENTIRE SYSTEM OF EMPLOYEES DID NOT RECEIVE THEIR DIRECT DEPOSITS TODAY. LOCAL BUSINESSES ALSO FEELING THOSE IMPACTS OVER AT JAMAICAN JERK HOUSE ALONG SAINT CLAUDE AVENUE. BUSINESS OWNERS THERE TELL ME THEY HAVEN’T BEEN ABLE TO SEE THEIR MONEY, PAY BILLS OR BUY GROCERIES SINCE EARLIER THIS WEEK. THEY ALSO KEEP RECEIVING FRAUD ALERTS THROUGH THE CAPITAL ONE SYSTEM. AS YOU CAN IMAGINE. RANDI. THIS HAS CAUSED SOME CONFUSION. WONDERING WHEN THINGS WILL BE BACK TO NORMAL SINCE THERE’S NO WORD REALLY ON HOW LONG THIS OUTAGE WILL LAST. FIRST AND FOREMOST, WE DIDN’T RECEIVE ANY NOTICE. WE WENT TO GO MAKE GROCERIES AND INSTANTLY STARTED GETTING DECLINES. SO IF YOU DON’T HAVE LIKE ESTABLISHED CREDIT, IT’S GOING TO IMPACT YOU BECAUSE YOU WON’T BE ABLE TO MAKE GROCERIES FOR THAT DAY. SO ONCE WE REALIZED THAT THAT WAS GOING ON, WE WERE ABLE TO, YOU KNOW, PULL OUT SOME BACKUPS AND STUFF LIKE THAT. BUT WHAT ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO DON’T HAVE ESTABLISHED CREDIT? IN CIRCLING BACK TO OCHSNER, WE WERE ABLE TO GET A STATEMENT FROM LEADERS THERE WHO SAY THAT THEY’RE WORKING WITH ANOTHER BANK TO TRY TO PROCESS THEIR PAYROLL. SO A LOT OF THEIR EMPLOYEES ARE EXPECTED TO BE PAID TODAY. BUT OF COURSE, WE’LL HAVE MUCH MORE ON THIS AT FOUR, FIVE AND SIX REPORTING LIVE FROM UPTOWN SH
