“Nothing makes me happier than 90 minutes of being with my fans,” she added
Selena Gomez isn’t sure if she’ll tour again. In a new interview with Time celebrating her Rare Beauty cosmetics line, the “Crowded Room” singer said she’s “50-50” on whether she wants to hit the road again.
The singer reflected on her 2016 Revival tour and how she had to step away from it to address the mental health repercussions of her lupus diagnosis. “Nothing makes me happier than 90 minutes of being with my fans and just celebrating together,” she told the outlet. However, “It is very emotionally draining for me. And then you realize you’re just surrounded by a bunch of people that you’re paying.”
Gomez has long been contemplating her next move with music, telling Rolling Stone in March that she “hopes” an album will come at some point this year. (She dropped “Love On” in late February.) She also said on a podcast earlier this year that her next album may be her last.
“Part of me feels like I’m finally at a good place with everything in my life,” she said.
Gomez has instead been focusing on her film and TV projects in recent months. She’s set to star as Linda Ronstadt in a biopic of the music legend’s life, she’s joining a reboot of Wizards of Waverly Place, received a standing ovation at the premiere of Emilia Perez at Cannes earlier this month, and also leads cooking show Selena + Restaurant.
“I think it’s natural for people to take breaks, but I think for me, there is a whole other aspect to my life, pride and joy,” Gomez told Rolling Stone in March. “I love film. I love TV. I just feel like I haven’t done a lot of the things that I want to do in that space. It’s not that it’s ‘no, never’ [to music], it’s more that I would like to explore that world a bit more and have the time to actually do that.”
“All I want to do at the end of the day is make people happy,” she added.
