The beloved trio of Mabel, Charles, and Oliver are making their way to Hollywood, and with them comes a fresh wave of intrigue and murder.
On August 13, the trailer for the highly anticipated fourth season of *Only Murders in the Building* was released, giving fans a sneak peek into the new chapter of this hit mystery-comedy series. Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, and Martin Short are back, and this time, they’re bringing their crime-solving antics to the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles.
In this new season, the team dives into the Hollywood scene to create a movie about their experiences as amateur sleuths and murder-mystery podcasters. However, their journey takes a dark turn when they discover that murder has followed them to the City of Angels.
The trailer begins with the iconic trio—Gomez, Martin, and Short—arriving in L.A. and encountering a slew of famous actors who will portray them in the film within the show. Eva Longoria, Eugene Levy, and Zach Galifianakis take on the roles of their respective counterparts. Longoria, Levy, and Galifianakis dive into their character studies of Mabel, Charles, and Oliver. But things take a sinister twist when Galifianakis’ character is murdered, leading the group to uncover that Charles was the intended victim.
In a memorable scene, Longoria asks Gomez, “Are we attached to ‘Mabel’?” to which Gomez, staying in character, responds with a deadpan, “I’d say so.”
The trailer teases that with the help of their Hollywood doppelgängers, the team will be trying to solve the murder of Galifianakis’ character. They also cross paths with Meryl Streep, who reprises her role as Loretta Durkin from season 3. New faces this season include Molly Shannon, Kumail Nanjiani, and Richard Kind. Additionally, Melissa McCarthy joins the cast as Charles’ eccentric sister from Long Island, who has a peculiar obsession with creepy dolls and an unusual admiration for Oliver’s podcast voice.
Fans can look forward to the premiere of the new season on August 27, streaming exclusively on Hulu. This release comes just over a year after the third season hit the platform. The previous season’s success was recognized with a nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series at the 2024 Emmys, with Gomez, Martin, and Short all receiving nods in the lead actor/actress categories.
