Portuguese cyclists have paid tribute to Cristiano Ronaldo by mimicking his ‘Siu’ celebration after winning gold at the Olympics.
On August 10, Iuri Leitao and Rui Oliveira won the gold medal in track cycling at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games . Notably, this is the first gold medal won by the Portuguese sports delegation at this Olympics. In addition, in the history of participating in the Olympics, this is also the first gold medal for Portugal in a non-athletics event.
After making history, Iuri Leitao and Rui Oliveira caught the attention of many people when they performed Cristiano Ronaldo’s signature “Siu” celebration on the medal podium. Rui Oliveira then shared this celebration photo on his personal page (X) and called on fans to spread it widely to express their admiration for their idol Ronaldo.

Thanks to the strong spread on social media, Cristiano Ronaldo quickly responded to the call of his compatriot. “Congratulations, Rui,” the Al Nassr player commented under the photo of the two Portuguese cyclists receiving gold medals. Not stopping there, Ronaldo also posted a post on Instagram to congratulate the historic achievement of the Portuguese cycling team.
