Here is all the latest Liverpool news from Tuesday 6 August. Ben Doak will be allowed to leave the club, Liverpool’s signing of Mamardashvili could be in danger and seven Liverpool players are attracting interest from around the football world.
Football Scotland claims that Arne Slot is happy to loan out Ben Doak for the upcoming season. Slot has been assessing his squad over the last month or so in order to allow certain players to leave.
Doak is now one of those who isn’t expected to have a role at Liverpool this season. The Reds will instead try to loan him elsewhere and clubs are reportedly interested.
Liverpool have a rival for major signing
Liverpool have a fierce rival in their pursuit of a £35m transfer target. This could ruin their big plans.
Cope in Spain reports that Liverpool are indeed looking to sign Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili. The Georgian has built a fantastic reputation over the last year, leading to many rating him among the world’s best.
The Reds would reportedly sign Mamardashvili and loan him out, with a view to him returning down the line as Alisson Becker’s long-term replacement. He’d cost around £35m to sign and the club feel that would solve one of their biggest upcoming problems.
However, they’re not the only ones with this idea. The report suggests that Atletico Madrid are also big fans of Mamardashvili and view him as an ideal successor to Jan Oblak.
Seven players reportedly attracting interest
The Athletic reports that seven Liverpool players are generating interest from clubs right now. Here’s who they are.
It really does seem that Liverpool are finally kickstarting their transfer business. The Reds are reportedly closing in on their defensive midfield target, while it’s now claimed that as many as seven players are the subject of interest.
It’s something we – and many others – saw coming. After all, Liverpool are now back from their preseason tour of the USA and are firmly in a position to sell.
Arne Slot has reportedly spent the last little while deciding who he’s willing to part with. Now clubs are lining up to take advantage.
‘One of the best in the world’ Liverpool given the lowdown on £25m transfer target
Anfield Watch has spoken to former Dinamo Tbilisi scout, Mikha Gabechava, to get the lowdown on Liverpool target Giorgi Mamardashvili.
Few people would have imagined that Liverpool’s first acquisition of the summer could end up becoming a goalkeeper. But based on reports in Spain, it seems like there is genuine interest in Giorgi Mamardashvili from the Reds and he could very well become the first signing of the Arne Slot era for just £25m.
Reports have suggested that Mamardashvili would initially be sent out on loan with Bournemouth the most likely destination – so this would be a strange transfer in the sense that Liverpool fans wouldn’t immediately see him in a red shirt – but it could be a smart one.
Liverpool midfield target offered at BARGAIN price
Manu Koné has been offered to Liverpool after asking to leave Borussia Monchengladbach.
HITC are reporting that Koné has been offered to a number of English clubs and could be available for as little as £20 million.
Liverpool’s interest in Koné dates back to last summer when Jörg Schmadtke held the position of Liverpool’s sporting director.
Links between Liverpool and the 23-year-old Frenchman have not disappeared since Richard Hughes joined the club.
Gomez ‘perturbed’ over failed transfer
Joe Gomez has been left ‘perturbed’ by his potential inclusion in a swap deal involving Anthony Gordon earlier this summer.

That’s according to a new report in HITC, which claims that the England defender ‘is ready to seek a move away’ from Liverpool following the failed transfer.
It was revealed by the Daily Mail last month that the possibility of Gomez joining Newcastle was explored by the two clubs ahead of the profit and sustainability rules deadline on June 30.
Gordon was offered to Liverpool in a complex deal, which would have seen the former Everton winger sign for £75 million with Gomez going the other way in a £45m deal.
Medicals were scheduled for the two England men at the Three Lions’ base in Leipzig during Euro 2024 but the move was aborted when Newcastle found other solutions.
Liverpool still advertising for a transfer guru
A new job posting by Liverpool FC could provide an insight into why this summer transfer window has been a quiet one so far.
Liverpool have recently advertised on their website for a Player Status Manager and the job seems to be heavily involved in the club’s transfer business and could explain the lack of it!
The Player Status Manager would be expected to: “Draft and execute player contracts, scholarship agreements, permanent and temporary transfer agreements, agent agreements and related contractual documents.”
This is one of many responsibilities for the role but it is plausible that the lack of Player Status Manager may well have effect Liverpool’s transfer window so far.
