Pentagon: No evidence of aliens

A study released by the Pentagon on March 8 found no evidence of aliens or extraterrestrial intelligence.

According to AFP news agency, the research was conducted to verify reports of sightings of unidentified flying objects (UFOs).

Conducted by the Department of Defense’s Office of General Anomalies , the study analyzed U.S. government investigations since 1945 into reports of sightings of unidentified anomalous phenomena, commonly known as UFOs.

The study found no evidence in the sightings that there were signs of extraterrestrial life, or that the US government and private companies were able to reverse engineer extraterrestrial technology and conspire to hide it from the public.

For example, the study refuted claims that a former CIA official was involved in managing the development and testing of extraterrestrial technology. It also refuted a 1961 intelligence community document on the alleged extraterrestrial nature of UFOs.

“All investigative efforts, at all levels of classification, have concluded that most sightings are of ordinary objects and phenomena, and that these are often due to misidentification,” AFP news agency quoted the study as saying.

According to the authors, the study in question aims to apply rigorous scientific analysis to a topic that has long captured the imagination of the American public.

According to AFP, US officials have been trying to find answers to a series of UFO sighting reports over the years, but so far have not identified any actual evidence of extraterrestrial life.

A 2021 US government report examining 144 sightings of aircraft or devices that appeared to be flying at mysterious speeds or trajectories also found no extraterrestrial connections but drew some conclusions and called for better data collection.

The UFO issue has recently received attention, when in the summer of 2023, a retired US Air Force intelligence officer testified before the US Congress about the country’s long-standing cover-up of a program to collect and reverse engineer the technology of unidentified flying objects.

The Pentagon has denied the allegations and said that an office dedicated to tracking reports of unidentified flying objects would be established in late 2022 – the same office that released the study on March 8.

The office has received “several hundred” new reports but has found no evidence of extraterrestrial life.
