Pelicans’ Dejounte Murray suffers apparent non-contact injury vs. Celtics

Dejounte Murray hobbled off the court under his own power but needed help returning to the locker room.

New Orleans Pelicans point guard Dejounte Murray exited Friday’s game against the Boston Celtics after appearing to suffer a non-contact injury.

It’s unclear exactly what Murray’s injury is at this point. The Pelicans quickly ruled him out for the rest of the game with a lower leg injury.

On the play where the injury happened, Murray went up for a rebound off his own miss. But after securing the ball, he immediately crumpled to the floor and grabbed the back of his right ankle.

Murray eventually left the game with 3:51 left in the first quarter. Initially, he hobbled off the court under his own power but needed help returning to the locker room afterwards.

Murray left the game with four points, five rebounds and three turnovers, shooting 2-for-6 from the field.
