Ohio State Wide Receiver Emeka Egbuka Breaks Ohio State’s All-Time Record for Receptions In A Career

Emeka Egbuka is Ohio State’s all-time receptions leader.

With his third reception against Notre Dame in Monday’s national championship game, Egbuka reached 202 catches for his Ohio State career, passing K.J. Hill’s career record of 201 receptions at Ohio State.

Egbuka mostly set the mark in his final three seasons, only catching nine passes as a freshman after coming to Columbus as a five-star prospect. He enjoyed a breakout sophomore campaign with 74 receptions, going for 1,151 yards and 10 touchdowns starring alongside Marvin Harrison Jr.

Injuries derailed some of Egbuka’s production as a junior but he’s been a go-to target for quarterback Will Howard in his final year as a Buckeye, entering the national championship game with 75 catches for 947 yards and 10 scores this season. His career numbers entering Friday were 199 receptions for 2,804 yards – leaving him just 95 yards short of Michael Jenkins’ career record for receiving yards – and 24 touchdowns, with two more scores on the ground.
