Offset & Cardi B Shut Down ‘Jealous Ass B-tches’ In New ‘Baby Boy’-Inspired Video. Offset and Cardi B have made it a family affair in the video for their new collaboration, “Jealousy” which was inspired by the 2001 cult-classic movie Baby Boy.
The video, which was directed by the former Migos rapper, is set in South Central L.A. and shows the married couple fussing and fighting just like Jody (Tyrese Gibson) and Yvette (Taraji P. Henson) did in the aforementioned film.
Henson herself makes a cameo in the visual, alongside Offset and Cardi’s children, Kulture and Wave, as well as ‘Set’s other kids. There’s also a tribute to his late groupmate, TakeOff, in the form of a red rug which features both Atlanta artists on it.
As for the track itself, “Jealousy” was produced by Boi-1da, OZ and Jahaan Sweet, and samples Three 6 Mafia’s 2000 record “Jealous Ass Bitches.”
The song will appear on Offset’s forthcoming solo album, which will also feature heavy-hitters like Future, Travis Scott, Latto, Chloe Bailey and TakeOff.
Offset teased “Jealousy” earlier this week by by paying homage to James Brown and spoofing one of his most famous interviews. In the promotional clip, he laughed off any “drama” between him and his wife while fielding questions from Academy Award-winning actress Jamie Lee Curtis, who played a TV journalist.
“Your fans are saying there’s a lot of drama between you and your beautiful wife, Cardi B,” Jamie Lee said.
“HAAAA!” Offset replied while channeling the Godfather of Soul, wig and all.
“Okay, you’re not gonna answer my fucking question are you?” Jamie Lee responded, growing annoyed.
The duo then went back and forth, with Offset barely acknowledging Jamie Lee’s questions and instead yelling out random phrases and lyrics.
The video prompted hilarious reactions from Ludacris, Pharrell, 2 Chainz, Timbaland and Fabolous, with Luda commenting on Offset’s Instagram post: “Yoooooooooo!!!” along with several laughing face emojis.
Days later, Cardi B addressed the rumored drama herself and denied that her and Offset’s recent cheating allegations were merely to promote their new single.
“It wasn’t no STUNT,” she responded to a fan on Instagram. “Tasha K made some ish up and yall was laughing about it and happy ass hell about it. Now that we putting it in the music is a stunt … Naaa baby be mad at the one who started trolling wit it.”
Cardi followed up on Twitter, adding: “THEY COOCHIE WAS SO WET WHEN THE LIE WAS GOING AROUND NOW it’s a different narrative when we put it in the music ….OOOO IM POPPIN IT ON THIS SONG !!!!”
