‘NOT welcome’ – Trent Alexander-Arnold has reply for Oasis star Noel Gallagher following ‘simpleton’ jibe

Trent Alexander-Arnold continued his impressive start to the new season for Liverpool with another outstanding performance at San Siro in the Reds’ Champions League curtain-raiser against AC Milan.

The club vice-captain won his battle against winger Rafael Leao whilst also providing the assist for Ibrahima Konate’s equaliser in the 23rd minute.

The win meant that Arne Slot’s Liverpool got off to the perfect start in their 2024/25 Champions League adventure after having to settle for a place in the Europa League last season.

Goals from Konate, Virgil van Dijk and Dominik Szoboszlai secured all three points in Milan after Christian Pulisic broke the deadlock for the Italian giants three minutes into the game.

Alexander-Arnold was interviewed by CBS Sports after the match where he joined Kate Abdo, Jamie Carragher, Thierry Henry and Micah Richards.

Alexander-Arnold not expecting Oasis invite

After discussing the Reds’ win, Abdo quizzed the England star on whether he had been one of the lucky ones to secure a ticket to see Oasis next summer.

“No,” he replied bluntly.

“I like Oasis, I like the songs, but I don’t know whether I am welcome at their concert!”, the full-back jokingly added.

The defender’s claim of not being welcomed to next year’s reunion is in response to the insults Manchester City fan and Oasis member Noel Gallagher aimed towards the Scouser in the light of a comparison he made between Liverpool and City’s successes.

Trent’s ‘this means more’ comments

In the build-up to Liverpool and Manchester City‘s final meeting with Jurgen Klopp in the Reds’ dugout back in March, Trent claimed that due to the financial gulf between the two clubs, the success would mean more to the Anfield side than their fierce rivals.

“We’re up against a machine that’s built to win – that’s the simplest way to describe City and their organisation.

“Looking back on this era, although they’ve won more titles than us and have probably been more successful, our trophies will mean more to us and our fanbase because of the situations at both clubs financially.

“How both clubs have built their teams and the manner in which we’ve done it, probably means more to our fans,” Trent claimed to FourFourTwo.

In an appearance on TalkSPORT, Gallagher responded to the 25-year-old’s claims and labelled him as a ‘simpleton’.

“For someone to say that a trophy means more to one set of fans, than another set of fans, is the talk of a simpleton.

“For him to come out with that, even by footballer’s standards he’s a bit dim. I don’t think he was being clever and all this about him playing mind games – really?” Gallagher said.
