The Los Angeles Lakers were at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night, facing the New York Knicks in the fifth game of their six-game road trip. They came in hot, winning seven of their last nine.
Midway through the third quarter, with Los Angeles up 71-68, Lakers forward Rui Hachimura stole the ball from Knicks guard Josh Hart and found LeBron James. James pulled up from 25 feet and drilled a running three-pointer to push the lead to six.
Not long after, the NBA shared a post announcing that James’ three-pointer gave him another historic milestone in his Hall of Fame career.

“Congrats to LeBron James of the Lakers on becoming the 7th player in NBA history with 2,500 3-POINTERS MADE,” the NBA wrote.
James joins an elite group of all-time great shooters who have made 2,500 career three-pointers in the regular season. That list includes Steph Curry, James Harden, Ray Allen, Damian Lillard, Klay Thompson, and Reggie Miller.
This is just one of many historic milestones in James’ legendary career. He entered the night as the NBA’s all-time leading scorer with 41,498 points while also ranking fourth in assists (11,396) and sixth in steals (2,311).
Before Saturday’s game, the 40-year-old averaged 23.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 9.0 assists per game.
