NBA basketball world bids farewell to a veteran, fans unexpectedly call LeBron James’ name

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James was unexpectedly called out when the NBA world said goodbye to a veteran and extremely special character.

As one of the two most prestigious NBA journalists, Adrian Wojnarowski has long won the trust of fans with hot, fast and accurate transfer information.

But after a long career in journalism, Wojnarowski himself shared the final “blockbuster” in his career in media and sports journalism.

Sharing on his official X page (formerly Twitter), journalist Adrian Wojnarowski announced that he will officially retire to move in a new direction.

Renowned journalist Adrian Wojnarowski says goodbye to ESPN and the media and journalism profession in general.

“Growing up with a blue-collar dad who worked just two miles from ESPN, I always dreamed of being a reporter for a living. Thirty-seven years ago, the Hartford Courant gave me my first chance, and I’ve never stopped pursuing it since.

I know this profession requires a lot of investment of time and effort, something that I no longer have enough motivation to dedicate and do. Time is not infinite, so I want to spend my remaining time on a more meaningful goal for myself.

After all these years covering every other team, I’m finally going to return to my own team ,” said now former journalist Adrian Wojnarowski.

Wojnarowski’s retirement took the NBA world by surprise. Even the players were shocked to see a top name, at the peak of his career, decide to “hang up his pen.”

The fan community mostly expressed gratitude and wished the former ESPN journalist luck in his next journey. A small part teased that Adrian Wojnarowski would… retire before LeBron James.

The final piece of information, often called the “Woj Bomb,” that the longtime journalist brought to fans was the contract extension of young talent Isaac Okoro on September 15.

LeBron James was unexpectedly mentioned when journalist Adrian Wojnarowski announced his retirement.

After leaving ESPN, Adrian Wojnarowski will return to St. Bonaventure University (New York City, USA), the school he attended and graduated from in 1991. Here, Woj will take on a new role as the technical director (General Manager – GM) of the school’s basketball team, which is currently competing in the NCAA.

“ I am excited to return to the school and community I love. Hopefully I can bring positive values to the basketball team and open more doors to welcome young talent in the future ,” added the new GM of St. Bonaventure.

Now 55 years old, Adrian Wojnarowski has become famous in the American sports press, especially the NBA, for nearly 2 decades. During this time, Woj worked for Yahoo Sports before moving to ESPN since 2017.
