The Huffington Post reported on July 21 that a former British Royal Air Force colonel said he had new evidence that would help shed more light on the mysterious UFO sighting in 1980 near the British Royal Air Force base Bentwaters.
Colonel Charles Halt collected reports from air traffic control in 1980 at Bentwaters. Soldiers there told him that they saw UFOs flying in the sky on radar and they were afraid to talk about it until they retired.
On 27 December 1980, strange lights were seen by military personnel in Rendlesham Forest, which is located between Bentwaters Air Force Base and Woodbridge. Several witnesses reported seeing strange objects moving rapidly in the sky, and a triangular shaped object was reported to have landed in an open field.
When this continued the following night, Halt, deputy commander of the air base at Bentwaters, led a group deeper into the woods, where he witnessed a strange light source accompanied by an unidentified object moving between the trees and dripping molten material.
In addition, a recording of Halt was revealed, he also described a laser-like beam of light shot from the UFO to the ground where he and the group were standing.
“I can tell you that there are some kind of superintelligence that can change shape, change size, and do funny things. What I saw, I am convinced, is that we know nothing about them or anything about them or about them. Maybe they don’t exist in the form we know them, or maybe they are just intelligent beings and we have no connection to them,” Halt said.

Years later, air traffic controllers who were on duty during the 1980 Bentwaters incident revealed that they had seen something moving in their scopes, which had a range of 60 miles, but it only moved for two or three seconds, which is thousands of miles per hour, Halt told the BBC. “Then it came back again, stopped near the water tower. They watched and watched until it moved straight into the forest.”
After many years had passed and the air traffic controllers had retired, they decided to tell Halt about what they saw on their radar in 1980. “They told me they knew that every time they reported a UFO sighting, their report would be dismissed. So they said nothing.”
Halt is frustrated by the decades of misinformation about the Bentwaters incident, and by the disappearance of important government files. In 2011, the UK released thousands of UFO files, but the files related to the Rendlsham Forest incident have mysteriously disappeared.
