I’ve got to admit I was very surprised this morning when I read a release sent to me by the BC NGO Pacific Wild saying that this weekend they accompanied pop singer Miley Cyrus to the Great Bear Rainforest on a research trip. I was familiar with the group’s push to end BC’s somewhat controversial wolf cull and their encouraging of a permanent, protected habitat for BC caribou but Miley Cyrus? What the heck was she doing way up there with scientists and wildlife conservationists? A little digging revealed that the star recently launched The Happy Hippy Foundation, her first non-profit group with a mission to “Rally young people to fight injustice facing homeless youth, LGBT youth and other vulnerable populations.”.
