Miley Cyrus Didn’t Know About Noah, Tish, and Dominic Purcell’s Love Triangle

The Cyrus clan has found themselves embroiled in a bit of unconventional family drama. And as shocking as it may have been for us to learn of Noah Cyrus’s previous relationship with mom Tish’s now-husband (more on that later), it was reportedly even more surprising for Miley.

ICYMI, a source told People last week that Noah had a “friends with benefits” type of relationship with Dominic Purcell before he married Tish, and now, another insider is sharing what Miley, who has a close relationship with her mom, thinks of all of this.

“Miley had no idea about the drama with Dominic. No idea at all,” the source told the outlet. “She confronted her mom about it. She thinks it’s a strange situation, but she loves her mom and wants her to be happy.”

Reps for Noah, Tish, Miley, and Purcell did not immediately answer People‘s request for comment, and Noah’s rep previously had no comment for the publication.

Last week, an insider revealed that Noah “was offended” by her mother’s decision to marry Purcell, despite him having a relationship with Noah at one point. “Noah and Dominic were seeing each other in a friends with benefits way, off and on. They stopped seeing each other and then Tish started something up,” the source told People. “Tish knew he had been seeing Noah.” 

The insider added that “Tish never gave Noah the chance to talk about all of this before they got married.” Noah did not attend Tish and Purcell’s wedding in August 2023.

This whole situation would make sense as to why Noah has taken her dad Billy Ray Cyrus’s side following his divorce from Tish in 2022, although, a source recently told People that she’s always been close with her father. “Noah is very loyal to Billy Ray,” the insider said. “She and Billy Ray have always had a really close relationship.”

Miley, on the other hand, had reportedly taken a step back from her relationship with Billy Ray. A source previously told E! that her relationship with her dad is strained. “The divorce between her parents have put a strain on [Miley’s] relationship with her dad and it’s been hard to connect with him in the last year,” the insider said in 2022. She hopes they can eventually work on their relationship.” She even left her dad out of her Grammys acceptance speech last month.

In addition to Miley and Noah, Billy Ray and Tish also share daughter Brandi and sons Trace and Braison (Billy Ray adopted Brandi and Trace from Tish’s previous relationship). Billy Ray also has another son, Christopher Cody, from a previous relationship.

During a recent episode of Call Her Daddy, Tish opened up about the divorce, saying they hadn’t been in a “good place” for a while. “When it actually fell apart is when I stopped [changing myself]. When I stopped doing that, it was over,” she said. “[I was] looking at myself being like, ‘What in the heck are you doing?’ So I literally just had made that firm decision, and I was like, ‘I’m moving on with my life.’ You know what, girl? It worked out for the best.”
