Coach Mikel Arteta shares about Arsenal’s transfer situation this summer.
After two consecutive years of finishing second in the Premier League, Arsenal are expected to go on a shopping spree this summer.
Coach Mikel Arteta is determined to overthrow Man City to become the Premier League champion. However, things certainly won’t be easy.
Arteta is trying to bring in new players.
Most recently, Mikel Arteta shared: “This summer is very different, everything is a bit slower.
The new market and regulations that have been introduced have made clubs more aware, making purchases a little more delicate.
We have adapted to that, we still want to improve the team.”
Mikel Arteta is reportedly looking to sign a new central midfielder this summer following the departure of Mohamed Elneny, while Thomas Partey is also expected to leave the Gunners.
And in the plan to bring in a midfielder, journalist David Ornstein confirmed the Gunners’ top targets.
Specifically, Arsenal are said to be interested in players such as Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes, Everton’s Amadou Onana as well as Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi.
Among them, Arsenal was the first team to make a move for Onana. Accordingly, they sent a request to Everton about Onana’s availability.
Arsenal approached Onana in the context of The Toffees facing financial difficulties and wanting to sell some key players.
Arsenal have reason to want to bring in a quality defender who can drop deep in central midfield and support Declan Rice.
With a new midfielder, the Gunners’ midfield will certainly become more formidable.
