Messi’s son wishes to play with Lamine Yamal when he grows up

Thiago Messi has just revealed his dream of playing with the 16-year-old talent of the Spanish national team, striker Lamine Yamal, who is participating in EURO 2024 and has just set a record as the youngest player to play in the history of the tournament.

Lionel Messi’s son – Thiago Messi has expressed his desire to play with 16-year-old talent Lamine Yamal of the Spanish team – who has just set a record as the youngest player to play at a EURO finals .

Born in November 2012, Thiago Messi grew up watching his father win many prestigious titles during his playing career, including 5 La Liga titles with Barcelona, 5 Ballon d’Ors and most recently the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Currently, Thiago is pursuing a professional career by playing for the U12 youth team of Inter Miami – where his father joined last summer.

In a recent interview with José Ramón de la Morena, the 12-year-old boy shared about his future dream of becoming a professional soccer player.

“Playing football makes me more nervous than watching my dad play. I’m not good at kicking with my left foot,” Thiago admitted, a difference compared to his father’s perfect skill set.

Despite losing to Barcelona’s youth team in the LaLiga FC Futures tournament, Thiago still wants to return to the Catalan club – where his father spent 17 years of his career. And if he is lucky enough to play for Barca, there is one current player Thiago would love to play alongside.

“One day if I still pursue a football career, I want to play with Lamine Yamal,” Thiago confided.

Lamine Yamal is a young talent from Barcelona’s prestigious La Masia academy. Lionel Messi himself once predicted about Yamal, he believed that in the future the 16-year-old striker would become an outstanding talent of world football and win the Golden Ball.

In the 2023-2024 season, Yamal was officially promoted to the Barcelona first team with 50 appearances, scoring 7 goals and 10 assists. This impressive achievement helped him be included in the list of 26 players of Spain for EURO 2024.

At 16 years and 337 days, Yamal became the youngest player in history to appear at a EURO finals, while the oldest player is Portugal’s Pepe at 41 years and 109 days.

In fact, Thiago Messi’s wish could come true in the future, as he and Yamal are only five years apart in age. If both of them pursue successful football careers at Barcelona, there is nothing to stop them from playing together on the pitch.
