After many days of planning and nurturing, finally the fashion brand named “Messi” of superstar Lionel Messi was launched in Barcelona last week.
At the end of May, Spanish media reported that Messi had entered the fashion industry, collaborating with MGO, a design company of Ginny Hilfiger (sister of designer Tommy Hilfiger) to launch a new fashion brand bearing his name.
A fashion collection with Messi’s personal mark has been emerging since late May. The collection is described as having personality and is mainly designed for men, but there will also be a few designs for women.
The line was launched in July 2019 on an e-commerce website called “The Messi Store”. The first Messi-branded kits will be officially sold to customers in August 2019.
However, due to many problems, it was not until mid-September that the fashion brand named “Messi” was launched at a store in Barcelona.

Messi’s sister, Maria Sol Messi, will be in charge of designing the clothes. Messi’s brand will collaborate with famous tailor Richard James of Savile Row (UK) as well as shoe brand Tricker’s in Santa Eulalia (Spain). According to MGO, there will be some accessories or details of this collection designed according to Messi’s own ideas.
Not only is Messi a person with some design ideas, he has also boldly acted as a model for his own products. In the newly announced collection, the Argentine superstar wears quite eye-catching clothes and promises that the brand will bring positive signals.
In addition to launching his own fashion brand, Messi recently partnered with Canadian entertainment company Cirque du Soleil, which specializes in producing television shows, to produce a show called “Messi10” based on his life and is scheduled to premiere in Barcelona next October.
