Messi ‘s most recent Guinness World Cup records are “Most World Cup appearances” with 26, and “Most World Cup goals as captain” with seven. Both records were set after the World Cup final on December 18, 2022, when Messi scored twice to help Argentina win the title.

Also at the 2022 World Cup, Messi was recognized by Guinness for another record, as the first player to assist a goal in five World Cups. This record was created after he passed to Enzo Fernandez to score against Mexico at Lusail Stadium on November 26, 2022.

Ronaldo ‘s most recent record was recognized by Guinness as “Most followed person on Instagram”, with more than 565 million followers as of March 24, 2023. He also received another record on the same day, “Most followed man on Instagram”. Currently, the number of accounts following Ronaldo on this social network has reached more than 598 million.

Guinness World Records (GWR) is a record-keeping organization founded in 1955 in the UK. GWR’s database currently records over 40,000 records. The person with the most Guinness titles is American Ashrita Furman, who has set over 600 records and currently holds over 200 records.

Ronaldo once posted a Guinness World Record on his personal page, when he surpassed Ali Daei to become the male player who scored the most goals for a national team. He scored 123 goals in 200 matches for Portugal.
