Pink makes everything better, right? That, of course, has been Margot Robbie’s unofficial motto since the Barbie press tour began last summer. To fans’ delight, the film’s reign over culture has meant Robbie serving up the pinkest of pink outfits, and she’s not done yet—although the star appears to have entered a new phase: the Barbiefication of LBDs.

On Saturday night at the 30th Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles, Robbie took her Mattel doll-inspired dressing to a whole new level in a gorgeous, playful creation pulled from Schiaparelli’s Fall/Winter 2020 Couture collection. She stunned in a strapless black minidress with a wide bubblegum-pink band tied around her waist that transformed into a massive structured shoulder detail, resembling a grand, powerful wave, and a dramatic puffy asymmetrical train that trailed behind her as she walked. Robbie paired the piece with velvety black pointed-toe stilettos and lots of diamonds, including a diamond tennis anklet, sparkly crystal drop earrings, and a thin-banned gold ring with a huge trillion cut diamond. For beauty, she radiated in soft, rosy glam complete with baby-pink eyeshadow and a cherry blossom lip, and styled her golden tresses down in soft waves with a middle part.

Barbie was tied with Oppenheimer for most nominations in the film category, garnering four each, with Robbie up for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role (which she ultimately lost to Lily Gladstone for her role in Killers of the Flower Moon). The fantasy-comedy went 0-4 with awards, but Robbie and costar America Ferrara—who looked elegant in a custom black Christian Dior gown—ascended the stage to highlight their work.
This marks the second black dress Robbie has infused with Barbie pink. Earlier this month at the 2024 BAFTA Awards, she arrived in a glamorous custom Giorgio Armani Privé strapless gown that was almost completely covered in sparkling black sequins—with the exception of a shiny, satin pink silhouette at the center that started just under her bust and went all the way down the length of the dress. For an extra Old Hollywood touch, she added long black opera gloves.
