Manchester United have been accused of ‘disrespecting’ Cristiano Ronaldo following his penalty miss against Slovenia at Euro 2024.
Ronaldo fluffed his lines from the spot in normal time as Portugal vs. Slovenia went into extra-time.
His effort was saved by Jan Oblak as the BBC ruthlessly mocked the superstar forward.
Ronaldo, however, redeemed himself in the penalty shootout.
He took Portugal’s first penalty in the shootout and smashed home his effort, producing an elite reaction after his successful spot-kick.
Man United’s Bruno Fernandes and Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva then slotted their penalties to record a 3-0 victory after Diogo Costa saved all three of Slovenia’s penalties.
A composed Fernandes scored a brilliant penalty as Man United praised the player following his big moment.
But, in doing so, Ronaldo fans think the club ‘disrespected’ the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
Man United posted an image of their star man scoring his penalty for his national team, accompanied with the caption: “Bruno Fernandes knows all about scoring penalties in the big moments…”

But Ronaldo supporters took exception to Man United’s social media post, slamming the ‘disrespect’.
One X user wrote: “Don’t disrespect our legend.”
A second tweeted: “No Ronaldo slander is allowed. I’ve been a Man U fan since 2006 and Ronaldo made me fall in love with you people.”
A third added: “Show some respect admin.”
A fourth commented “Bruno could not give you a Premier League… Ronaldo won you 3 Premier League a Champions League and countless trophy.”
Another said: “Very unnecessary post.”
Ronaldo was reduced to tears after his penalty miss as his side eventually booked their spot in the next round of Euro 2024.
Portugal beat Slovenia 3-0 on penalties to set up a clash against France in the quarter-finals.
