A man who was chopped in half by a forklift and had his entire lower body amputated has told how he is receiving emergency treatment in hospital for an infection. Montana man Loren Schauers lost three limbs and faced a long road to recovery after being crushed by the truck in September 2019. He made the brave decision to let doctors perform a hemicorporectomy – amputating everything below his waist to save his life.
Loren, from Great Falls in Montana, USA, has been blogging about his life as he tackles the disability with the help of his wife, Sabia Schauers-Reiche and a recent post has told how he is back in hospital with a kidney infection. Writing on an Instagram Story on Wednesday, Loren said: “Drink water like no other in life. Yet I’m still needing to be put into the E.R (emergency room) for a kidney infection and my body passing a kidney stone. Why does there always have to be some catch?”
