Liverpool youngster sets a UNIQUE club record that may never be broken

In a remarkable and likely unprecedented event, one Liverpool youngster made history on Sunday during a busy day at Anfield.

The Reds’ stadium hosted two friendlies within hours of each other to round off a successful pre-season campaign.

First, Arne Slot’s team thrashed Sevilla 4-1 in a lunchtime fixture before playing out a goalless draw against Las Palmas later in the evening.

A superb strike from Diogo Jota opened the scoring against the Andalusians before a brace from Luis Diaz stretched the lead, and youngster Trey Nyoni added the icing on the cake with an excellent volley.

The second game against the Canary Islanders was a relatively dull affair behind closed doors. Darwin Nunez had a first-half strike ruled out for offside in a game of few chances.

Two entirely different squads

Slot opted to field two entirely different starting line-ups for the matches, with even the composition of substitutes varying significantly between the games.

However, despite the wholesale changes, one player featured in both squads and came off the bench in each match.

While many expected that Joe Gomez might be a contender for this particular accolade, it was, in fact, midfielder Tyler Morton, who made history by playing in two official first-team matches on the same day.
