Andrew Robertson will lead the Scotland squad when they meet hosts Germany in the opening match of EURO 2024.
The attention of the football world will be on Scotland when they meet hosts Germany in the opening match of EURO 2024 in Munich.
Scotland are back in an international tournament for the first time in 24 years and will be looking to go as far as possible. And Andrew Robertson could become the captain with the most caps for his country this summer.
The Liverpool defender has worn the captain’s armband 47 times, just one fewer than all-time leader George Young, but Robertson insists this personal milestone is not what motivates him.
Robertson is about to have an important tournament.
He told FourFourTwo: “Someone told me that. Anyone who knows me knows that individual awards will always come second to team achievements – you can’t achieve anything in football on your own kick – but it would be quite special if I achieved the quiz milestone, considering the previous captains.”
“I grew up watching some of them, and those who came before me all have long names and legacies that are very influential. I hope I have many more appearances.”
