Liverpool fans across the world will be desperate to see Trent Alexander-Arnold at Anfield beyond this season.
But, while Trent has been loyal to his boyhood club so far in his career, he has outlined which priorities he is looking for if he is to agree a contract extension or move on elsewhere.
Speaking to The Athletic after Liverpool’s 3-0 victory over Bournemouth on Saturday, he said: “The most important thing is trophies if I’m honest.
“I’m a player who is highly motivated by winning things and being elite. That’s probably the main factor of anything.”
Having won everything there is to win at club level with Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp, who gave him his debut in October 2016, Trent’s ambition for silverware is paramount.
While winning the Carabao Cup last season in a historic win against Chelsea, Liverpool battled for the Premier League until the very end, just falling short in the last few games.
Can Arne Slot deliver Trent’s request?
Despite only being the Liverpool manager for six competitive games, Arne Slot has impressed many of the wider footballing world, surpassing expectations of a transition season.
Winning five of his six games in charge, including a 3-o win over arch-rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford, the litmus test is certainly looking positive so far.

Tactically the Reds are looking like a different animal from last season having only conceded two goals in the six games and slowing the game down slightly to pass more through the middle has allowed some of the players to be a bit more patient in attack.
While the midfield will face further scrutiny as the games come thick and fast, requiring greater rest and rotation, the defence has been really solid to give Jarrell Quansah a perfect platform to return to when Arne Slot feels he’s comfortable.
Trent will quite rightly be keeping his cards close to his chest, and Liverpool’s fast start may end up being a false dawn, but to answer the question as to whether Slot has what it takes to deliver trophies for the team, he could hardly have delivered a better first impression.
