Here’s all the latest Liverpool FC news, with updates on FSG and Manchester City’s court case.
Chelsea poach FSG man
Chelsea have just struck at the heart of Liverpool owners FSG with their latest arrival. That’s despite the ridiculous turmoil at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea appear to have got one over on Liverpool – or at least, their owners FSG. The Blues’ own ownership, Clearlake Capital, have hired David Beeston as a managing director, per City AM.
Now, you’re likely wondering what on earth that has to do with Liverpool. Well, Beeston was working as a co-head of FSG’s marketing firm.
His work was primarily in the US with FSG’s sport teams over there. In fact, his role at Liverpool was very limited to non-existent, it seems.
But he’s clearly someone who was valued highly – and someone who has instead taken a ‘promotion’ with Clearlake, rather than with FSG. Beeston will be making a move into football here, just not with Liverpool – he’ll be heavily involved with Chelsea.

Update in Owen Beck bite incident
Liverpool loan star Owen Beck has seen some vindication as the FA brought about a charge for violent conduct. Milutin Osmajic appeared to bite the left-back at the weekend.
Owen Beck was involved in a ridiculous incident on Sunday after he received a red card. The left-back took a swipe at a Preston North End player, receiving a straight red.
A mini-brawl then broke out, which led to Beck gesturing wildly that he’d been bitten by Preston’s Mulutin Osmajic. Video of the incident certainly suggested he had been, while Blackburn boss John Eustace said after the match that “Owen’s got a big bite mark on the back of his neck and it’s a shame the referee didn’t see that”.

Carragher calls out Man City
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher made his opinion heard on this week’s version of the Fan Debate on The Overlap. Discussing the situation with a Manchester City fan who raised the point that City are and have been one of the most profitable institutions in the sporting world for years now – particularly due to their on-pitch success – Carragher hit back:
“But the idea, when I see teams who bring the most money in, and I see Man City above Real Madrid and Barcelona, Man United, that is just nonsense. I don’t care how successful you are that can’t happen, it’s impossible.”
When the fan raised the point that City have won a treble, Carragher quipped, “Real Madrid win the Champions League every year, how can you be above Real Madrid?”

Journalists at odds over Man City court case
Liverpool will be among those watching closely as tries to figure out exactly what happened in Manchester City’s court case.
Manchester City might have secured a major victory in court today as they look to change Premier League rules. Might.
It’s not exactly clear what’s happening, with journalists from major publications at odds over a perceived outcome. It’s important to note that this isn’t the main court case of City’s 130 charges but instead is a charge they’ve brought against the Premier League over Associated Party Transaction (APT) rules.
