LeBron James still carries the Lakers ‘hunchback’ despite being nearly 40 years old

Despite being the oldest player in the NBA at the moment, LeBron James still plays a pivotal role and is the main scorer of the Los Angeles Lakers.

After the historic championship at the In-Season Tournament, the Los Angeles Lakers immediately returned to the ground at the main tournament of the NBA 2023 – 2024. LeBron James and his teammates have lost 2/3 matches since the In-Season Tournament ended, most recently a 115-129 defeat to the San Antonio Spurs (December 16).

Although the team could not win, “King James” still left a big mark, as he was the Lakers’ top scorer. The 1984-born shooter scored 23 points, 14 assists and played a total of 36 minutes (only 3 seconds less than his teammate with the most minutes played in the game, Taurean Prince).

At the age of 39, an age when many athletes have retired, LeBron James is still playing persistently, even “carrying” the Lakers team on his shoulders. This is shown through many parameters: the oldest player in the NBA today; has the most appearances for the Lakers (24 matches); has the highest average playing minutes for the Lakers (33.8 minutes/match).

In addition, “King James” is also ranked 9th in the 2023 – 2024 MVP race. He is also the oldest player on this list (while Jokic is the second oldest, 10 years younger than James).
