The Knicks will have their center for their upcoming West Coast road trip.
Karl-Anthony Towns will be available for the Knicks’ matchup against the Lakers in Los Angeles on Thursday, per SNY’s Ian Begley. The first-year Knick is not on the injury report after missing Tuesday’s loss to the Golden State Warriors due to personal reasons.
Towns has been dealing with a knee injury in recent weeks and was listed as questionable for Tuesday’s game before being ruled out. Once it was revealed the center was out due to personal reasons, the question of whether Towns would be available for the Knicks’ five-game West Coast road trip was posed to Tom Thibodeau, and the veteran coach told reporters, “When he’s ready to come back, obviously we want him back. But he needs some time right now.”
The 29-year-old is having a great first season in New York. He’s averaging 24.5 points on 53 percent shooting while grabbing 13.4 rebounds and dishing 3.1 assists across 54 games this season and was named an All-Star starter alongside teammate Jalen Brunson.
After the Lakers, the Knicks stay in LA to take on the Clippers on Friday. They then head to Sacramento on Monday and Portland on Wednesday before finishing up against the Warriors in San Francisco on Saturday. March 15.
