KEY POINTS: Center-back Saliba Was France’s Most Reliable Player on the Ball, Losing Possession Only Once in 90 Minutes; Jakub Kiwior’s Disappointing Performance Contributed to Poland Being the First Team Eliminated

Against Netherlands on Friday night, William Saliba preserved his second clean sheet for France at Euro 2024, ending in a 0-0 tie.

Our defender, who gave up the ball just once in ninety minutes, was France’s most dependable player when it came to possession.

Les Bleus had defeated Austria 1-0 on Monday, thus they entered the match in a strong position.

In the 69th minute, Denzel Dumfries of the Netherlands had the ball in the net, but a video assistant review determined that he was offside and interfering with play.

France finished second in Group D with four points, just behind Netherlands in goals scored, following the first goalless draw of the competition.

Unfortunately for Jakub Kiwior and Poland, their 3-1 loss to Austria dropped them to the bottom of the group, making them the first country out of the campaign.

Gernot Trauner gave Austria the lead with a header into the top-left corner, but Krzysztof Piatek levelled on the half-hour mark. Jakub played the full 90 minutes of the game.

With twenty-four minutes remaining, Christoph Baumgartner gave Austria a lead again, and Marko Arnautovic extended that lead with a penalty kick.
