John Cena provides insight on Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel’s Fast & Furious feud.

John Cena has weighed in on the history between Fast & Furious stars Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson.

If you’re the sort of person who keeps up with celebrities and their drama, then John Cena is here to set the record straight when it comes to Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Vin Diesel not always seeing eye-to-eye.

According to various reports and online speculation, Fast and Furious co-stars Diesel and Johnson have been ‘feuding’ since around 2016. But why?

Well, they may’ve worked harmoniously together in 2011’s Fast Five, but in August 2016, Johnson’s uploading of a post to Instagram, in which he seemingly branded some members of the cast ‘candy asses’ and not conducting themselves as ‘true professionals’, caused a stir online.

While The Rock didn’t name said cast members and the post was later deleted, some of the franchise’s fans saw the post as disrespectful to Diesel.

And such views were only intensified when Johnson took to social media again days later to thank certain members of the cast, but leaving out Diesel.

However, Johnson also shared a post noting ‘family is gonna have differences of opinion and fundamental core beliefs’, but it can be resolved and learnt from. He also eluded to how the alleged issues between him and Diesel may’ve aided ‘the interest’ in the film ‘sho[oting] through the roof to a whole other level’ in an interview with the Los Angeles Times in November 2016.

Vin Diesel similarly squashed the rumors in an interview with USA Today calling Johnson ‘Uncle Dwayne’ and saying the pair were ‘close’, although later admitting he had used a ‘tough love’ approach with Johnson in the franchise.

The to-ing and fro-ing goes on, but now more recent addition to the Fast franchise, Cena, has weighed in on the relationship between the pair having worked with them both.

Cena appeared on the Armchair Expert podcast hosted by Dax Shepard released earlier this week on 8 April.

He admitted there are ‘certainly rumors’ about Johnson and Diesel not always seeing eye-to-eye, which he noted he ‘can’t deny’.

He continued: “You have two very alpha, driven people. You get two, there can only be one.”

However, it wasn’t all as bad as it seemed and didn’t impact Cena’s role in the franchise either. He told the host: “Man, you gotta remember I got dropped into a locker room where [we have] generational vets.

“‘What’d your dad do?’ ‘Wrestle.’ ‘What’d your granddad do?’ ‘Wrestle.’ I’ve been in that environment; know the room and just kind of adapt to what’s going on.”

Cena added he has a lot of ‘respect’ for the franchise and those within it and noted he’s ‘not trying to get the sandbox’.

He resolved: “That’s not my thing. I’m grateful for what you’ve given me, I just want to be the best firetruck I can.”
