Is LeBron James Retiring? Latest Instagram Post Reveals Lakers Star’s Big Plan After His Last Game

King James has it all at this point in his career. He’s a four-time champion, four-time league MVP, four-time Finals MVP, 20-time All-Star, all-time scoring leader, three-time Olympic gold medalist, and the list goes on. LeBron James has been one of the most dominant athletes in the world in the last two decades. His recent Olympic tour was quite an insight into his longevity and versatility. Many believe him to be active in the Association for another 4-5 years. Regardless of his remaining tenure, what’s the King’s plan post-retirement?

Well, the Laker might have hinted at his future profession. In James’ recent Instagram story, he shared ESPN’s post featuring Monte Harrison. Harrison is a former MLB player who is a freshman wide receiver for the Razorbacks. Yes, just two years after retiring from the MLB, Harrison hit the grass with the college team. Impressed LeBron shared Monte’s resume captioning, “Me when I retire from the league! Haha!”. It would be a sight to see an NBA player call it a day, just to play on the collegiate level.

James was drafted right out of high school. The veteran has never played on the collegiate level. But as he reveals his wish to play in college post-retirement, hopefully, fans might wonder if he’ll consider playing any other sport. It will be interesting to see him take the same turn as Michael Jordan after his third championship. But James seems more of a football player if not the dominant force he is on the court, mainly due to his physique. Luckily for James, he has some experience on the grass in his resume.

Back in high school, outside of basketball, James played as a wide receiver on the field. Given his athleticism at the time, if James were to continue playing football, he could’ve made the case for a tight-end or a receiver position in college. Surprisingly, his versatility has been the same ever since, even at the age of 39. On the brighter side, one of the more intriguing questions would be which college would LeBron suit up for.

LeBron James has a couple of Universities in mind

If the King ever had the chance to play on the collegiate level, it would be with Ohio State. However, his fandom for the Buckeyes is quite famous. And for the same reason, James was once asked to pick any school other than his favorite to play for. To many’s surprise, LeBron favored the Blue Devils and the UNC. And why not? In the early 2000s, these were the top colleges to look out for in terms of NBA talent. For LeBron to play under these big names would’ve only solidified his stature as a college athlete. Consequently, if he considers playing on the collegiate level following his retirement, he’ll have his pool of school names ready.

Of course, James won’t be retiring any time soon, but when he does, there is a great chance that he will look over to his business side. The King is worth a billion dollars and it wouldn’t be so common to watch a billionaire pick up a sport post-retirement. While James continues to dominate on the hardwood, he’ll have the spotlight all for himself, as he approaches his last few seasons in the league. What are your thoughts on James’ post-retirement plans? Do you think he should play in the NCAA? Let us know in the comments.
